Miami Heat center Hassan Whiteside is set for life (pending he doesn’t go full-Iverson) fresh off agreeing to terms on a four-year contract with the Miami Heat worth about $98 million.
With the talented seven-footer cashing in on his first major payday, we thought it would be fun to go house hunting on the NBA star’s behalf after spending the last couple of years in a two-bedroom unit at Marina Blue in Downtown Miami.
We’re operating off a few assumptions:
- Whiteside will want to be close to Downtown Miami, as the Heat plays and practices at American Airlines Arena. We’re creating a search zone with a 10-mile radius.
- We have no idea what Whiteside will spend or how much he’ll put down on his next Miami residence so we’re going to offer some varying options.
- Whiteside will be enticed by by extravagant features.
Time to go house hunting, Whiteside style.
Option 1: 4555 Pine Tree Drive, Miami Beach
Price: $34 million
Distance to AAA: 6.6 miles
I don’t know Whiteside on a personal level but considering his fun-loving nature and affinity for video games, odds are he’d think a 43-foot concrete waterslide in his backyard would be dope.
Downside: The price is steeeep, even for one of the NBA’s highest paid players.
Option 2: 900 Biscayne #5901, Downtown Miami
Price: $3.199 million
Distance to AAA: 2 blocks
This four-bedroom penthouse at 900 Biscayne is more plausible, as it’s much cheaper and a mere blocks away from the arena, which would certainly appease Heat President Pat Riley.
It’s on the 59th floor, has a sweet outdoor terrace, and comes with some amazing panoramic bay views.
Option 3: 226 Palm Avenue, Miami Beach
Price: $4.849 million
Distance to AAA: 2.7 miles
Would a modern home on Palm Island with a ceiling mirror above the bed in the master bedroom be enough to entice young Whiteside?
Option 4: 6410 North Bay Road, Miami Beach
Price: $10.95 million
Distance to AAA: 8.1 miles
Far from flashy but still super nice, this 6,500-square-foot waterfront home on North Bay Road offers tons of potential and get this: it’s directly next door to Heat teammate Chris Bosh.
Which of the four would you choose?
