Barú Urbano plans big expansion
Bar chain is targeting cities with big Hispanic populations
June 29, 2015 02:15PM The Barú Group, which runs the chain, has plans to double its locations by the first half of 2016. Baru is also looking at opening bars in other cities with large Latin demographics, the South Florida Business Journal reported.
Right now, the chain operates two locations: One in Miami’s Midtown, at 3252 Northeast 1st Avenue, and one in Doral, at 11402 Northwest 41st Street. Its Brickell location is in the process of moving to 901 South Miami Avenue.
Hector Antunez, CEO of Barú Group, told the Journal that his goal is for the bar to be a hotspot for young professionals.
“We’re embracing the fact that Miami welcomes people from all over the world,” Antunez told the Journal. “Nobody’s from here. Everybody’s from somewhere else, and we want to create an environment where all those people feel comfortable.”
New locations:
- 2210 Weston Road, Weston
- 8268 Mills Drive, Kendall
