Miami’s One Thousand Museum by Zaha Hadid to be featured in documentary

As downtown Miami’s One Thousand Museum continues its 62-story climb, the Zaha Hadid-designed luxury development has been tapped to appear in an upcoming documentary that will air on Discovery and PBS titled “Impossible Builds.”

The show will focus on the creation of complex structures across the globe and will also feature four other projects, including a resort villa in Dubai and a super-thin skyscraper in New York City.

One Thousand Museum’s most unique feature has to be its fascinating exoskeleton, which is comprised of thousands of pieces of lightweight concrete reinforced with glass fiber. These panels are shipped in from Dubai.

“It is an honor for the project to be spotlighted in this important documentary film,” said Louis Birdman, one of the co-developers for One Thousand Museum by Zaha Hadid Architects. “We could not think of a better way to immortalize the forward-thinking project to a global audience across continents through this important documentary.”

Construction has currently reached the 38th floor in the 83-unit tower whose renderings emit a Star Trek feel. Expected to top off by the end of the year and open in late 2018, the Zaha Hadid creation is primed to become downtown Miami’s signature building.
