5 Fantasy Islands for Sale in Florida to Dream About

Ballast Key.jpg

Ballast Key via World Property Report
Due to the overflow of eyeballs absorbing East Sister Rock Island, we've decided to expand our island coverage here at Curbed because who doesn't want to daydream about owning his or her own private ocean-wrapped paradise? For today's edition of Curbed Comparisons we'll be island hunting across a variety of price ranges, but none topping $16 million.
The Florida islands are ordered from least to most expensive, ranging from $1.5 million to $15.8 million.
Our first option is on a budget and not technically an entire island. For $1.5 million you could own a 2,400-square-foot home on Jewfish Key off the coast of Sarasota. It comes with about 300 feet of private beachfront.
From here on out, it's private island or bust. This particular oasis off the coast of Tampa stretches almost six acres and features an enormous resort-style pool. Water envelopes about 95 percent of it with road entry on one side. The price is $5.5 million.
↑ Fanny Key
This two-acre island in Monroe County has the best name of the bunch inFanny Key. Listed at $5.9 million, it offers a four-bedroom, two-bathroom home and guest residence.
Located in Stuart, this $5.9 million property sits on a 2.5-acre private island.
Our final island of the day is both the largest and most expensive, totaling 14 acres and listed at $15.8 million. Ballast Key is the southernmost inhabited island in the United States. The seller is known as Mr. Key West.
So which island would you choose?

  1. Wow, what an interesting post, the images are simply beautiful. I adore South Florida. We just bought a condo unit at the Sabbia Beach (http://www.sabbiabeachcondos.com) in Pompano Beach with the prospect of spending our summers there after retirement. The location is amazing, the building itself is going to be spectacular, it's worth to check it out.
