Plans have been submitted for The Towers by Foster + Partners in Brickell, a luxury condo development comprised of 660 units proposed at a 2.5-acre site at 1201 Brickell Bay Drive, which is the last waterfront development site in Brickell.
Designed by Pritzer winning architect Lord Norman Foster, the development team consists of Florida East Coast Realty, Corigin Real Estate Group, and McCourt Global Properties, with the project calling for two interconnecting towers bridged by a pedestrian plaza. The project architect is ODP Architects.
One of the towers would rise 1,049 feet (already FAA approved), putting it in the running for Miami’s tallest building along with four other projects that have received the maximum FAA approval.
"The design of these high-rise towers frees up space on the ground to create a pedestrian plaza, with shops, restaurants and art galleries that will serve the local community as well as the new residents in the tower," said Lord Norman Foster, Chairman and Founder of Foster + Partners. "The base of the building continues the axis of Southeast 12th Terrace, drawing life back to the bay. It is a civic response to the city’s enlightened vision, and will make an important contribution to Miami’s public spaces."
A large portion of the parking has been moved underground, allowing for a more seamless concept easier on the eyes. The plans call for 56,800 square feet of public open space that includes a "signature through-block arcade."
