Fresh off signing a $98-million contract, Hassan Whiteside just threw down $7.3 million on a waterfront home in Miami Beach’s La Gorce neighborhood, per the Real Deal.
The 5,406-square-foot contemporary has six bedrooms, 6.5 bathrooms, and isn’t far from the Bay Road homes of Chris Bosh and former teammate Dwyane Wade. Whiteside previously was living in a condo across the street from American Airlines Arena at Marina Blue.
The starting Miami Heat center’s new home was listed for as high as $13 million last February before undergoing several price reductions. It offers a gourmet kitchen, open floor plan, water views throughout, an expansive pool and backyard entertaining area, along with a detached guest house.
The home last sold for $5.9 million in 2012.
Whiteside, who chose Miami over Dallas in Free Agency this summer, is coming off a stellar season in which he averaged 14 points, 12 rebounds, and four blocks, and could put up astronomical numbers next season as he will be leaned upon more amid the departures of Wade and Luol Deng.
Heat coach Erik Spoelstra also went house shopping this summer, buying a historic house in Coconut Grove for $2.6 million.
