Brickell Key Park is not a real park. Well, in that it has greenery, and fields, and is publicly accessible, okay yes it is, but the park on the southern tip of Brickell Key has always actually just been a privately-owned placeholder; something thatSwire Properties used to fill the last developable site on Brickell Key until they decided to develop on it. Now, even though "There are no immediate development plans" a Swire rep told SFBJ, the company is submitting an application to the City of Miami for a rezone of the site from commercial to residential. When they do develop the park (and it looks like such a move may be on their minds despite the lack of "immediate development plans") they want to build a high-end residential tower instead of an office building.
